Last year I've discovered this funnily named bike event, DirtQuake V during surfing on Facebook. The poster promised amazing bikes and famous names on two days event.
Although I've just missed the registration for a media pass but I was still keen to go.
It was worth every penny. The organisers, Sideburn Magazine and DTRA put a great show together. The main races were on Saturday at the Adrian Flux Arena in King's Lynn, Norfolk.Guy Martin, Carl Fogarty and other big names from Dirt Track series alongside with amateurs cheered our whole day.
So this year I applied in time. My accreditation request was accepted so on Sunday I went to King's Lynn. And it was...
...disappointing from a media point of you. Nothing like I remembered last year.
NO TRACK ACCESS, NO PHOTOS DURING PODIUM CEREMONIES, those main things which are necessary when you work for an International Photo Agency. No wonder why I didn't see a lot of photo and videographers.
I have photographed bigger events (three different FIA events, Race of Champions), but never had such issue before. So I hope they'll let the professional photographers and videographers to do their jobs next year.
After 15mins fuming, I stood up, accepted the challenge and went for great images as far as I could.
IT WAS CHALLENGING BUT I HAVE MANAGED TO TAKE SOME GREAT PICTURES. What do you think?
During the day I mainly used my favourite lens, the Sigma 50mm f.1/4 which is always amazing to work with. The 18-105mm kit lens for panning and wide angles, the 70-300 to zoom on the riders during race.
